Viral Advertising

Viral advertising is a way of marketing something through different pre-existing forms of media (such as social networking sites and video sites e.g. YouTube) and other types of technology, to increase awareness of a product through self-replicating viral processes.

One form of viral advertising would be a video that can be posted on blogs or forums or video sites like YouTube that people can share to social networking sites such as Facebook or Twitter. This was done by Tyler, the Creator; to advertise his album Wolf, that had already been out a few months, he made a trailer for a film with songs from the album on it, it then had a picture at the end of the album saying "original soundtrack in stores now". This video was put on YouTube and posted onto an official website that keeps fans of Tyler, the Creator (and other members of his group Odd Future) up to date on things they're involved in. This is also a form of viral advertising as you could have a blog or forum related to the product.

Another form of viral advertising would be ___ which physically involves the audience. This was done for the dark knight rises, a site was made to involve the audience that had links to other sites and tasks to complete.
