Prop research

Research into props used in Psychological dramas/Thrillers:
During the research of the props used in different psychological dramas, We discovered that there is an enhancement to the thought behind the meaning of using a certain prop when it is used in this particular film genre. We looked in to the different colours, styles and placement of different props on similar psychological thriller/dramas and how effective they are to the audience and if they suggest anything in which foreshadows the end of the film or something later on that occurs during the film.
 The props usually used in these kind of dramas are props that tell a story or link in with the rest of the film, mainly used as clues that in a manner are related to the rest of the film, this is done to keep the audience engaged and interested in the final outcome of the film.

Mirror:
 An example of the main props usually used in a stereotypical psychological dramas/thrillers, would be a mirror that can also be used to show the reflection of a character. This photo demonstrates how a mirror can show not only your reflection but the many other faces of a characters personality or feelings. Which is a good source of use for films in which require a psychological meaning behind them. A mirror is a good prop as it shows a different side to a character, like a dark side.

Props we will use in Dazed:

- An empty bottle of alcohol: We need this as Carrie steals a bottle of alcohol from the shop and obviously we wont be including real vodka for the character to drink, we will use an empty bottle filled with water or a clear form of drink.

- Fake cigarettes: Non of the actors who in which are taking part in acting in our film smoke in real life, therefore the only option to show characters smoking would be to use fake cigarettes, as they are as realistic as real cigarettes.

- Small mints in a plastic bag: We will use small mints in which look similar to tablets to create the look of realistic drugs for Carrie and Jared to take safely.

- Photo album: We will use a second hand photo album and place photos of the characters in it for Carrie to reminisce about her relationship with Jared, to do this we will take some photos to print off and place in the book.

- Flowers and newspaper article: We need a bunch of cheap flowers and a made up newspaper article in which we will create in order for us to wrap around a lampost to show the death of Jared, and the date he died in which will then show the twist to the viewer throughout the entire storyline.
